About 2km west of the Noonkanbah Rd on the Great Northern Hwy west of Fitzroy Crossing, a small unmarked track leads to the dam on the north side of the road, which you can see from the road. This is a popular free campsite with no facilities. The dam is semi-permanent water so during the dry season can be jammed full of birds, the surrounding area is also good woodland despite it being popular. When the dam runs dry the bird population crashes.
