This is a birding hot spot. From the Derby Hwy south of the town a signposted road leads to the sewage ponds. They are fenced off but one can see into the ponds from the track. Keep following the track and turn left and you will come to the wetlands, that are the discharge from the sewage ponds, so still smelly. There is a track to walk around the main pond with a lookout to give an over view, during peak tourist times the outlying ponds also hold water, so make sure you use the toilets often when in Derby! Away from the ponds there is also some remnant woodland.
Camp rating 5 There is no sign here that says no camping yet, but this is not an established campsite, so stays should be short.
