ON the northern edge of Newcastle about 3km south of the New England Hwy junction on Maitland Rd, Millams Rd bridges the south arm of the Hunter River, following this road as it loops north then east will lead to the wetland. This site takes in the birding sites of Ash (Kooragang) Island which is a well known wetland. There are many tracks and ponds to explore, down by the river there is mangroves. This can be a good area for vagrants.
No camping is allowed on the island
