About 21km SW of Jabiru on the Kakadu Hwy, the signposted road leads SE towards Nourlangie Rock, the site is based in the carpark for Nawerlandja lookout about 10km along. There is a walk down to the billabong that is good, though the access to the billabong is poor in the wet season. During the dry the better access to the swamp is just to the east down the signposted road, also there is a walking track around the swamp if levels are low enough. The view from the Nawerlandja lookout across to Nourlangie Rock is okay, but nothing spectacular. Nourlangie Rock lies about 2km to the east.
