The site is at the closest that the track gets to the lake. This track is only open as a bypass of the Birdsville Track when the Cooper Ck floods, and gives access to the free ferry. The lake is usually dry, but given that one can only access the site when the creek floods there will always be water here when people can get access to it. There is generally very sparse woodland here, though it’s better down by the lakeside.
